Beijing city wall is a generic term for the civic defence system built during the last two dynasties in Chinese history—the Ming and Qing dynasties. It comprises palaces, imperial city, inner city and outer city, and is equipped with city walls, city gates, enceinte, turrets, watchtowers and a moat. The city wall was once the most well-preserved ancient urban defence system in China.

The Great Eight Sights of Yanjing refer to the eight scenic sights in ancient Beijing, including Jimenyanshu (Xitucheng), Lugouxiaoyue (Marco Polo Bridge), Jintaixizhao (Jintai Road), Qiongdaochunyin (Beihai Park), Juyongdiecui (Badaling), Taiyeqiufeng (Zhongnanhai), Yuquanbaotu (Yuquan Mountain) and Xishanqingxue (Fragrant Hill, Badachu).
