Ⅳ. 1. Three changes, overwhelming, everlasting but silent, happened to me after I received my moms present for my first birthday far from home: my attitude towards my mom, my life as well as my inner pursuit. Firstly, I would become fully con?scious of what sacrifices Mom had made for me as a single mother when there just was never enough money. For these sacrifices, I would be more grateful to her. Secondly, my attitude towards my life would also change. Despite many adversities like poverty, suffering, and setbacks, so long as I kept pursuing a better future, each of my big dreams would come true, just like my moms surprise for my birthday over a long distance. Finally, my attitude towards my inner pursuit would also change. To me, my happiness does not come from wealth, status or power. Instead, it comes only from the inner abundance. Therefore, I would no longer feel self?abased when I was surrounded with those freshmen or others who received care packages from their parents on their birthdays—and even on ordinary days. I would become more determined and much richer inside to be a better and real myself.
2. My moms love which featured much sacrifice. For this change, I would firstly thank my mom for what she had been doing for me during the past years. It was her sacrifice and encouragement that ensured my smooth path to learning as well as my happiness, for which I could pursue my big dreams. For this change, I would secondly tell my mom that her love would always be the greatest surprise for me and I would no longer ask more from her due to our poverty with my inner abundance coming above everything else. For this change, I would also work much harder to repay my fond mom, which, for sure, would also be an inspiration and a gift she had been longing for from her child, who she had placed much hope on.

My moms surprise
I would never forget what a big surprise my mom sent me on my first birthday when I was far from home.
When I turned 18, I, alone, would spend my birthday at school far from home. How desperately I was eager to receive a birthday present from my mom. Realizing that she was a single mother and couldnt afford presents or the postage, I lay on my bed, feeling homesick and empty. However, when I was daydreaming, a deliveryman sent me a large box with a vanilla cake. Realizing that it was a birthday gift from my mom, I was so excited and content. My mom, together with the cake, is actually an everlasting incomparable surprise for me!

Dear Tim,
Im glad to recommend a tourist city for your coming summer holiday. As far as Im concerned, Beijing is the best choice.
To start with, Beijing, the capital of China, is an ancient and traditional city. It lies in the north of China and is not too hot at this time of the year. Besides, there are a great number of tourist attrac?tions worth visiting, such as the Great Wall, the Summer Palace and the Forbidden City. These scenic spots have attracted millions of tourists every year. I promise you will have a wonderful time here in Beijing.
I can act as your guide if you like, and I am ready to offer help whenever you need it. Im looking forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.
Yours,
Li Hua

Paragraph 1:
Upon hearing that, the old man felt seized by a burst of warm current, and couldnt help crying. He looked at me, nodded slowly and said in a tender voice, “Thank you so much. You have such a wonderful son. You must be proud of him. Happy Mothers Day to you and your wife.” I saw tears shining in his eyes and I was convinced that I did something right.
Paragraph 2:
The man then bent down and gave his wife the flower, telling her who it was from. Though badly hurt and shaken, the old lady looked up at Tenyson with love in her eyes and gave him a little smile. “I am fine. Dont worry about me, my good boy,” she murmured, with a flicker of pain across her eyes. Tenyson nodded and smiled back at once with a little shyness. Their satisfied smiles were going to be an unforgettable picture in my whole life. What a beautiful day it was! Whenever I reflected on that day, I finally realized that sometimes a small act of kindness does bring us great joy.

第三部分 寫(xiě)作
第一節(jié)
Dear teachers and fellow students,
Recently the topic of green travel has been widely debated, which has aroused public attention. In the past few decades, the increase of private cars has brought more and more serious air pollution and traffic jams. Consequently, its time to promote green travel.
Personally, I strongly recommend that we choose public transportation when going on a long journey, which is fast and convenient. Besides, if we are near the destination, we have an alternative to go there on foot or by bicycle.
Anyhow, through green travel, I hope we can not only protect the environment by saving resources but have a healthy lifestyle.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
第二節(jié)
Paragraph 1:
Carol then found herself in the city with her friends. Carol and her friends went to watch movies. After that, they ate delicious food in a restaurant and shopped in a huge mall. Carol was happy that she had the chance to experience the life in the city. Yet at the same time, she understood that everything told by her grandmother was true in the city. There was no peace and no silence; the city life was fast and rushing. The air quality was not satisfying. She could hardly find any animal or even a tree.
Paragraph 2:
Carols brother Rob was calling her for lunch and Carol woke up. She recalled what happened just now in her dream and realized that her life in the village with her family was far more wonderful than the city life. Carol understood that she was having a more joyful life. She shared her dream with her family while enjoying the fresh fruits and vegetables, and they laughed together. Carol also developed love for plants, animals and beautiful nature.
