From 1921 to 2021,the Communist Party of China has undergone a glorious course toward her centenary.History has proved that this has been a century for the Party to fulfill its original mission,to endure great hardships with a pioneering and innovative spirit,to surge forward courageously,and to create brilliance and miracles that push China forward to a better future.Through one hundred years’trials and hardship,time has scripted a spectacular and milestone-packed epic of the splendid history of the Communist Party of China.

The year 1921 witnessed an unprecedented social crisis in the Chinese nation which was devastated by incessant internal wars and turbulence while being endangered by the aggression of foreign powers.At this crucial moment,the Party was born,integrating Marxism-Leninism with the Chinese workers’movement.This epoch-making event has profoundly transformed the direction of the Chinese nation since modern times,greatly altered the future and destiny of the Chinese people and the Chinese nation,and fundamentally revolutionized the paradigms and patterns of global development.

From a small party with only a few dozen members to the world’s largest governing party with more than 95 million members,and moving from a poor and weak backward country toward a great modern socialist country,the Party has nourished a new social practice,a new political system,and a new development path under the guidance of Marxism.

1921—2021，中國共產(chǎn)黨走過了一百年的光輝歷程。歷史證明，這一百年是中國共產(chǎn)黨矢志踐行初心使命的一百年，是篳路藍(lán)縷奠基立業(yè)的一百年，是創(chuàng)造輝煌開辟未來的一百年。風(fēng)雨蒼黃百年路，時(shí)間如椽巨筆，為中國共產(chǎn)黨的發(fā)展史寫就一本豐富生動(dòng)的教科書。

1921年，在中華民族內(nèi)憂外患、社會(huì)危機(jī)空前深重的歷史大背景下，中國共產(chǎn)黨誕生，并把馬克思列寧主義同中國工人運(yùn)動(dòng)結(jié)合起來。這一開天辟地的大事變，深刻改變了近代以后中華民族發(fā)展的方向和進(jìn)程，深刻改變了中國人民和中華民族的前途和命運(yùn)，深刻改變了世界發(fā)展的趨勢(shì)和格局。

從只有幾十人的小黨發(fā)展成擁有9500 多萬名黨員的世界最大執(zhí)政黨，從積貧積弱的落后國家向著社會(huì)主義現(xiàn)代化強(qiáng)國前進(jìn)，馬克思主義信仰催生了一種新的社會(huì)實(shí)踐、一套新的政治制度、一條新的發(fā)展道路。

中國共產(chǎn)黨始終把實(shí)現(xiàn)共產(chǎn)主義作為最高理想和最終目標(biāo)，一代又一代中國共產(chǎn)黨人把為中國人民謀幸福、為中華民族謀復(fù)興作為自己的初心和使命，頑強(qiáng)拼搏、不懈奮斗。從中國共產(chǎn)黨建黨的開天辟地，到新中國成立的改天換地，到改革開放的翻天覆地，中國共產(chǎn)黨和中國國家事業(yè)取得歷史性成就、發(fā)生歷史性變革，初心使中國共產(chǎn)黨永葆政治本色，使命使中國共產(chǎn)黨永具前進(jìn)動(dòng)力，一路跨高山闖險(xiǎn)關(guān)，推動(dòng)中華民族迎來了從站起來、富起來到強(qiáng)起來的偉大飛躍。

The Communist Party of China has consistently taken the realization of communism as the highest ideal and final objective.Generation after generation of Chinese communists have remained true to the original aspirations and mission in the pursuit of happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation of the Chinese nation,and have been working diligently and unremittingly for this cause.From the founding of the Party to the founding of the People’s Republic of China,and to the launch of reform and opening-up,both the Party and the country have witnessed profound changes and achieved a miracle of development unprecedented in human history.The Party always stays true to its original aspiration,bears its eternal mission in mind,breaking the waves and sailing out for the journey ahead.Chinese people have stood up; the nation has become prosperous and is still growing in strength.

To develop itself into a fulcrum in the rise of Central China,stay at the forefront of reform and opening-up,and compose new chapters of development constitute the major tasks for the province of Hubei.Here in this province a new regional development layout is launched,guided by the principle of “one megacity Wuhan as the main engine,two sub-provincial cities Yichang and Xiangyang as propellers,and all other cities coordinating jointly.’ As an important node for internal circulation and a strategic link point for dual circulation covering both the domestic and overseas markets,the inland province of Hubei has now emerged at the forefront of reform and opening-up.

With this great and ongoing mission of prosperity in mind,the centenary ushers in the prime of China’s life.Strong determination and down-to-earth practices are the keys to a long and fruitful journey.The best tribute to history is to write a new and glorious history; the best promise of the future is to create a better future.From this issue,Special Focusstarts a special series of stories,by the name of “Splendid Achievements Made by the Heroic People of Hubei in the Past 100 Years,” to outline and record the footprints of changes in the land of Hubei as a special gift to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
