As a material with great potential,steel has been contributing to society through its rich properties.Baowu is the world’s largest steel firm,producing carbon steel,stainless steel,and special steel,which are widely utilized in transportation,energy,machinery,shipbuilding,construction,and other industries.Steel products can fully reflect their performance only after they are processed and assembled for application into the automobile,pipeline,ship,bridge,and other industries.Welding is an important method of processing and manufacturing steel products.

The thermal effect of welding causes a series of physical and chemical changes surrounding the welded joint during the welding process of steel products.For steel,these changes may cause cracking,hardening,softening,and embrittlement around welded joints.Hence,studying the weldability and welded joint qualities of high-strength steel products is important.

With the improvement of steel properties,it becomes increasingly difficult to ensure the integrity and reliability of welded joints.There is no doubt that welding technology is the key technology for processing advanced steel in the future.Some welding technologies of weldability,high efficient welding methods,quality control of welding process,and failure analysis of welded joints of high-strength steel are among the research papers published in this special issue of welding technology to solve various practical application problems of high-strength steel.
