To further strengthen culture and tourism exchanges and cooperation and build an exchange pattern covering wider scope and at multiple levels with Laos and Myanmar, Chongqing has worked to build Lancang-Mekong Sub-Regional Urban Tourism Community. From July 5to 13, Khamphao Ernthavanh, Ambassador of Laos to China, and Myo Thant Pe, Ambassador of Myanmar to China, paid visits to Chongqing for culture and tourism exchanges. They fully recognized Chongqing’s development achievement in recent years and said that they would endeavor to expand cooperation space for win-win development.

7月6日至8日，老撾駐華大使坎葆·恩塔萬先后考察了重慶市雜技團、市川劇院、市文旅國際交流中心和世界自然遺產(chǎn)地重慶武隆等。7月13日，緬甸駐華大使苗丹佩考察了世界文化遺產(chǎn)大足石刻，實地體驗重慶駐場演藝、非遺活化利用、精品景區(qū)開發(fā)、旅游助力減貧、旅游實景演藝打造、世界遺產(chǎn)保護傳承利用等文旅項目。

Chongqing Offering Worth-Learning Experience with Abundant Cultural and Tourism Resources

From July 6to 8, Khamphao Ernthavanh,Ambassador of Laos to China, visited Chongqing Municipal Acrobatic Art Troupe, Chongqing Chuanju Theater, the Chongqing International Cultural and Tourism Exchange Center, and Wulong District,a World Natural Heritage Site. On July 13, Myo Thant Pe, Ambassador of Myanmar to China, paid an inspection tour in Dazu District, a World Cultural Heritage Site. They had an experience in Chongqing’s cultural tourism projects such as field performance,revitalization and utilization of intangible cultural heritage, development of high-quality scenic areas,tourism-assisted poverty reduction, live tourism performances, and protection and utilization of world heritages.高級研修班”“瀾湄世界遺產(chǎn)對話”等活動表現(xiàn)出濃厚興趣和合作意向。隨后，在緬甸駐重慶總領(lǐng)事館開館儀式上，重慶市文化和旅游發(fā)展委員會與緬甸飯店和旅游部綜合司交換合作備忘錄文本。

Chongqing: Taking Initiative to be a Leader and a Driver

From July 6to 12, Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh and Ambassador Myo Thant Pe attended Chongqing-Laos Cultural and Tourism Exchanges Meeting “Lancang-Mekong Tourism City Cooperation Alliance-Wulong” and Chongqing-Myanmar Cultural and Tourism Exchanges Meeting “Lancang-Mekong Tourism City Cooperation Alliance-Dazu” respectively. They showed keen interest in and cooperation intention on such activities as the “Advanced Workshop on Cross-Border Tourism Cooperation under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Mechanism” and “Lancang-Mekong World Heritage Dialogue”. Later, at the Opening Ceremony of the Myanmar Consulate-General in Chongqing, the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development exchanged the Memorandum of Cooperation with the General Department of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism of Myanmar.

Chongqing Enjoying Promising Future for Cultural and Tourism Cooperation with Sound Advantages

After fi ld visits and experience of the cultural tourism projects,the two ambassadors both agreed that Chongqing boasts abundant cultural tourism resources, a favorable location, strong industrial bases, open corridors, etc. Laos will take Chongqing as a key area for China-Laos subnational cooperation and further exchanges in areas like corridor construction and cultural and people-to-people exchanges for win-win development. Myanmar will fully leverage the role of the Consulate-General in Chongqing to expand the space for cooperation in corridor construction, tourism, etc.

重慶優(yōu)勢突出，文旅合作前景廣闊

通過實地考察和體驗重慶文旅項目后，兩位大使一致認為重慶在文旅資源、區(qū)位條件、產(chǎn)業(yè)基礎(chǔ)、開放通道等方面優(yōu)勢突出，老撾將把重慶作為老中兩國地方合作的重點區(qū)域，深化兩地在通道建設(shè)、人文領(lǐng)域等領(lǐng)域交流合作，實現(xiàn)共贏發(fā)展。緬甸將充分發(fā)揮駐重慶總領(lǐng)事館作用，拓展通道建設(shè)、旅游等領(lǐng)域合作空間。

As one of the first Chinese cities in the Lancang-Mekong Tourism City Cooperation Alliance, Chongqing will strive to build itself into a“l(fā)eading cultural city” and a “world-renowned tourism destination”. To achieve that goal, it will make the following endeavors: 1) strengthen exchanges and cooperation with countries along the Mekong River in various fields such as culture and tourism; 2) continue to expand the tourist market in the Lancang-Mekong sub-regions; 3) work to make joint contributions to the “Belt and Road”; 4) actively serve the overall national diplomatic goals; 5) carry forward the people-centered spirit of “A Tour in Chongqing, A Gain in Vision”; 6) continue to improve the international recognition, reputation, and importance of Chongqing’s brand image as “a land of natural wonder and a city with cultural appeal”.
