Last week, we invited Professor Zhang to give us a talk on body language. Body language is used by people for sending messages to one another. The concept of body language is the information conveyed through facial expressions, gestures and other body parts. Different countries have different body languages, so body language is an integral part of culture, reflecting different national cultures and thinking
habits. For example, men in France kiss each other when they meet, but men in China shake hands.
Through this speech, I learn more about body language. I decide to study more about it as well as foreign cultures.

Tan Ting—China's first deaf lawyer
Born in 1992, Tan Ting became deaf when she was in primary school because of illness. At the age of 13, she was sent to a special education school and learned Chinese Sign Language. In 2013, she was admitted into Chongqing Normal University. In 2020, after many years of hard work, she became the first deaf person to pass the legal professional qualification examination. At present, Tan Ting not only provides legal consultations for the deaf, but also conducts law popularization activities through offline lectures and online live broadcasts.

Dear Smith,
On behalf of every teacher and student of our school, I'm writing to express our appreciation to you for the lecture concerning body language you gave us last week.
Through the lecture, we learned that the way people greet each other varies greatly in different cultures. For example, when the French people meet each other, they might kiss one's cheek while the Japanese prefer to bow to each other. In addition, even the same gesture doesn't mean the same. Sometimes, we may feel emba?
rrassed because of cultural difference. Therefore, we need to distinguish and learn different body language.
Thanks for your hard working.
Yours,
Li Hua

Paragraph 1:
With desperate tears, she suddenly spotted a boat with a figure walking on it. It occurred to her that catching the man's attention was the only hope for their survi?
val. Kiana swam to the boat without the slightest hesitation. Luckily, the man on the boat noticed her and pulled her out from the water. On hearing what she had suffered, he turned the boat around to rescue her father and sister. They were still alive. She made it.
Paragraph 2:
Once rescued, they were rushed to shore, where a concerned group were wai?
ting for their arrival. The sun was sinking in the west, dyeing the sky red. The man on the boat told everyone what had happened. Kiana then received lots of praises and inspiring words for her calmness and bravery. Having a lump in his throat, her father couldn't utter a word while giving his two daughters a bear hug with tears welling up in his eyes. There is no doubt that this experience of overcoming a life?threatening difficulty had been carved into Kiana's mind deeply, from which she harvested the power of courage. And that's what we need while going through the dark hours in our life.

Paragraph 1:
The bus drove off without me. Across the street from the bus stop was a big grocery store. I went into the store and bought a turkey, ham, oranges and other goodies. I spent every dollar of my hard?earned
money. The owner of the grocery store said, “Son, the groceries have packed up like a mountain, and you can't carry them home by yourself.” So I asked two boys with carriers on their bicycles to run them the half?mile down to my house. With great excitement and tears in my eyes, I knocked on the door.
Paragraph 2:
When Mum opened the door, she surprisingly found that some of the groceries fell inside onto the floor. Holding back the tears, I hollered, “Happy New Year! A big surprise!” “Can you tell me what happened?” Mum was so excited that she cried out. I had a lot of explanation as we unpacked all the food and put it away. That day I got enough hugs and kisses from Mum. Even though I failed to get a new pair of boots, the smile on Mum's face made it all worthwhile. It was an unforgettable New Year for us after all!

第三部分 寫作
第一節(jié)
Good morning, boys and girls,
It's my great honor to be here and give a speech titled “The importance of body language”.
To begin with, body language can help us know when someone is not telling us the whole truth. Besides, by understanding body language more effectively, we can decrease our chances of misunderstanding. However, there are so many cultural diffe?
rences between people that we may find it hard to interpret body language around the world. Therefore, it is important that we learn to discern and use body language more effectively to become an effective communicator.
That's all. Thank you for listening.
第二節(jié)
Paragraph 1:
On the fourth day, without warning, Aunt Letty announced, “It's time to meet Hercules.” She marched into the stables with light steps, and Aunt Letty was right again. Hercules did look very gentle. “You feed him,” I said nervously. “I'll watch.” Aunt Letty didn't try to force me into feeding Hercules. Instead, she stood quietly as Hercules lowered his head, and she whispered to him. She scratched Hercules on his neck and offered him an apple. The scene reached something deep inside me.
Paragraph 2:
Without speaking, Aunt Letty held her hand open for me to take. Reluctantly, I let her guide my hand towards Hercules and allowed him to sniff my hand. “It feels like silk!” I said, both surprised and excited. An hour later, I was scratching Hercules on his neck and offering him carrots. It seemed that the animal liked me quickly. That night, as we headed towards the house for dinner, I was inspired. With arms spreading wide, I said loudly, “Take a breath of that sweet country air!”
