*inch /Int?/：英寸（復(fù)數(shù)：inches）。在荷蘭語中的本意是大拇指，一英寸就是一節(jié)大拇指的長度。但因為每個人的大拇指長短不一，所以在14世紀時，英國國王愛德華二世頒布了“標準合法英寸”：從大麥穗中間選擇三粒最大的麥粒并依次排成一行的長度就是一英寸。一般來說，1英寸約等于2.54厘米。
