One day, Mr Li gives his class a special science lesson.
“Today, we are going to learn about an amazing phenomenon(現(xiàn)象) called bird migration.” Then, he holds up a colorful picture of birds flying in a V-shape(“人”字形).
The classroom is buzzing with excitement. Mr Li begins to explain, “Bird migration is when birds travel long distances(距離) from one place to another. They do this to find better weather and more food.”
Li Ming raises his hand and asks, “But how do they know where to go?” Mr Li smiles and replies(回答), “Birds have a special sense of direction(方向感). They use the position(位置) of the sun and stars, as well as landmarks(地標(biāo)) like rivers and mountains, to guide them on their journey.”
Xiao Mei jumps in, “Do all birds migrate?” Mr Li says, “No, not all birds migrate. Some birds, like sparrows(麻雀) and pigeons(鴿子), stay in one place all year round. But many birds, especially those that live in cold places, fly to warm places when winter comes.”
Chen Wei wonders, “How far do birds migrate?” Mr Li explains, “Birds can travel thousands of kilometers during migration. Some birds, like the Arctic terns(北極燕鷗), fly all the way from the Arctic(北極) to Antarctica(南極洲) and back again, covering a distance of over 40,000 kilometers! So, next time you see birds flying in a V-shape across the sky, remember that they might be going on an incredible(令人驚嘆的) adventure!”
As the class ends, the students realize that even tiny creatures are able to accomplish(完成) great things!
