一、far from

far from意為“絕非，遠遠沒有，一點都不”。例如：

They are not far from their hometown now.

他們現(xiàn)在離家鄉(xiāng)不遠了。

It is far from the truth.

事實絕非如此。

However，the war is far from over.

然而，戰(zhàn)爭還遠遠沒有結束。

Her trip looks far from enjoyable.

看來她的旅途一點都不愉快。

二、in vain

in vain意為“徒勞無功地，白費心力地，無用的，無價值的”。例如：

At that time，we were very excited be-cause all our efforts were not in vain.
