Aspiring to an imperial favor I am frustrated into despair,

A loser and poor man,

I compare not myself to a high mountain green.

Behind there is distance of a thousand years foreseen,

Ahead there are ten thousand years to come for man,

What a mere trifle is this life's short span!

弄世界機關識破，

叩天門意氣消磨，

人潦倒青山慢嵯峨。

前面有千古遠，

后頭有萬年多，
