Gu Ailing was born in California and had represent represented(代表) the United Statesbefore she chose to represent China. She will be most likely to be one of the faces ofthe 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

The teenager is a freekskier(自由式滑雪運動員) and grade-A student with anAmerican father and Chinese mother. Beatrice De Lavallette was just 17 years old when she was seriously hurt andlost both of her legs from the knees down.

The teen spent the next several months in physical therapy(治療), workinghard to be independent while moving. She appreciated her family for supporting herand making her believe that life would go on during those dark days.

Her dear horse, DeeDee, especially helped her get well again. Beatrice grew upin an equestrian (馬術(shù)的) family.
