青春期

一天晚上，在準(zhǔn)備晚飯的時(shí)候，我們10歲的女兒佩吉問：“媽媽，什么是青春期？”我的妻子此時(shí)正忙得不亦樂乎，所以她建議佩吉到字典上查這個(gè)詞，然后她們可以再討論它。

幾分鐘以后，佩吉回來了。她媽媽問字典上怎么說。

One evening, in the midst of dinner preparation, our 10-year-old daughter asked, “Mommy, whats puberty?”My wife was rushed at the moment, so she suggested that Peggy look up the word in the dictionary, after which they could talk about it.

A few minutes later, Peggy returned. Her mother asked what the dictionary had said.“Puberty means,”announced Peggy, “the earliest age at which a girl is able to bear children.”“What do you think of that?”my wife asked.

“Im not sure,”Peggy relied. “Ive always been able to bear children. Its adults I cant bear.”

一個(gè)商店主看到一個(gè)和他賣幾乎相同東西的店在隔壁開張很慌張，那個(gè)店豎起一個(gè)大牌子：“最好的商品”。

他看到他的右邊又有一個(gè)競爭對手，也有一個(gè)更大的牌子：“最便宜的價(jià)格”,他也很不安。

終于他不再不安了，因?yàn)樗氤隽藗€(gè)好主意，他樹立了一個(gè)最大的牌子在中間，他的店面前：“主要入口處”。

Main Entrance

A shopkeeper was dismayed when a brand new business much like his own opened up next door and erected a huge sign which read ‘BEST DEALS.

He was horrified when another competitor opened up on his right, and announced its arrival with an even larger sign, reading ‘LOWEST PRICES.

The shopkeeper panicked, until he got an idea. He put the biggest sign of all over his own shop. It read ‘MAIN ENTRANCE.
