He complained that at the film launch "there were some girls who had scratched the side of their necks so they were freshly bleeding when they came up to get a signature. 'Um, thanks guys?'" and seems to have taken a cynical view of his character, who he described as a "108-year old virgin, so clearly he's got some issues."

She's four; her already ultra-rich parents gave the money to charity.

Over a decade after he was acquited for killing his wife, Nicole Brown-Simpson, and a young bystander, Ronald Goldman, former football star and comic actor O.J. Simpson was finally sentenced to jail last month for a separate crime. O.J. was not convicted for the original murders after the racism of the L.A. cops involved in the investigation - O.J. is black - was exposed. Most Americans believe that O.J., although found not guilty, was the real murderer. He lost a civil trial brought by Ron Goldman's parents, and had to pay millions of dollars of damages to them. In 2006, O.J. sold a book to HarperCollins called If I Did It, which claimed to be a fictional account of how he would have committed the murders if he did them, but which most people believed to effectively be a confession. Public outrage forced his publishers to cancel the book and take back the several million dollars they had paid O.J. for it.

Last September, O.J. was arrested again, this time in Las Vegas. He had broken into a room at gunpoint with friends, in order to retrieve sports memorabilia, some of it extremely valuable, which he claimed had originally been stolen from him. He was charged on several counts, including robbery with violence, and after a year-long trial process was found guilty last month on all counts. He was sentenced to a total of 33 years in prison, and is likely to be paroled in about 9 years. His lawyers are already planning an appeal.

Pop singer Paula Abdul is selling her Hollywood mansion after one of her fans committed suicide outside it. Abdul rose to fame with a string of forgettable pop hits in the 1980s, and then became a judge on the reality TV mega show American Idol. Her fan, Paula Goodspeed, had been obsessed with her for many years, bombarding her with letters and phone calls and covering her own house with pictures of the star. Goodspeed appeared on American Idol last season, performing a poorly-received version of the song "Proud Mary." Abdul criticised her singing and rejected her from the competition, while sarcastic fellow judge Simon Cowell mocked her braces, describing her as having "a mouth full of metal." Goodspeed then took an overdose in a car outside Abdul's house, with a picture of the singer dangling from her rearview mirror and a license plate reading ABL LV. Abdul was very disturbed by the tragedy, and says she does not wish to remain in the house.
