艾德里安:男,澳大利亞生物學(xué)家,喜歡研究昆蟲。

白雪:蜜兒的寵物狗,忠心耿耿,總給人帶來意外驚喜。

Plot Synopsis

【本期劇情】

一行人登上小島之后,發(fā)現(xiàn)有野人的腳印。蜜兒、薩卡和白雪就開始尋找此人。薩卡抓住了一名胡須很長的赤裸男子,此人竟然是蜜兒曾經(jīng)的男友丹尼。原來,丹尼在南美探險(xiǎn)時(shí),色拉費(fèi)瑪竟然愛上了他,遭到丹尼的拒絕后將其發(fā)配到島上達(dá)五年之久。這五年他是怎么過的,大伙又將如何回到大陸呢?

Episode 12: The Mysterious Castaway

神秘的被放逐者

情景:大伙登上小島后發(fā)現(xiàn)有野人的足跡。

Saka: So, you think there's somebody else here?

Candy: It seems like it. We found footprints. Bare feet.

Adrian: I looked at the footprints, and his nails are overgrown, and the feet very callused, I believe. Whoever it is, he's been here a long time.

Candy: He must have got used to concealing himself, too. We've seen no other sign of him.

Adrian: He might be dangerous. Alone here for a long time – he could have cracked up entirely. Sees us as enemies, intruders. He might hunt us.

Candy: Or he could just not have seen us yet. Imagine, the poor soul, stuck here for so long – I wonder how he survived? At least it means the island can support life for a good while.

Adrian: Maybe he's a castaway from one of the ships – a sailor fallen overboard. With no flares, it would have been hard for him to alert any passing ships.

Candy: Well, we should find him. At the least, he must know what's safe to eat here and what isn't.

Saka: I shall hunt him.

Sanjay: Snow White says she can smell another man. Not one of us. She can help track him.

Xiaoqiang: Why didn't Snow White mention this before?

Sanjay: Nobody asked.

Xiaoqiang: OK, Sanjay, listen carefully to me now. Whenever you come into information that could be crucial to us – could you tell us as soon as you find it out for once? Like mysterious strangers saving you from the ocean. You haven't seen anything else round there, have you? Like, say, a small resort hotel or a conveniently laden ship home?

Sanjay: No. Nor has Snow White.

Xiaoqiang: It's not healthy, your relationship with that dog. I don't care if it's some kind of alien mind-meld, I still don't believe she's that smart. I've seen her fall off my bed chasing a ball too often.

Candy: OK, between Saka's extensive watching of Ray Mears' Extreme Survival and Sanjay and Snow White, we should be able to find this guy. I'll go with you. Maybe seeing a woman will calm him down. It must have been a long time since he saw a girl … maybe I'll be a civilizing presence.

Xiaoqiang: Seems like a plan. Adrian and I will stay to watch the ocean for ships. Can't let a chance for rescue slip by.

Saka: If we see him, we should let the others know.

Candy: How?

Saka: The sound of some kind of animal …

Candy: Um, an owl?

Adrian: On an island in the middle of the Pacific? Won't that be a bit suspicious? I don't think owls are native here.

Candy: A monkey? Oook-ooook-ooooooook!

Xiaoqiang: It'll do. Let's get moving.

(過了一會(huì)兒。)

Saka: OOOOOOK-OOOOOOOOOOK-OOOOOOOOK!

Candy: He must have spotted something! Let's get moving.

Adrian: Wait up, woman! I'm not as young as I used to be.

Saka: Come on, the two of you. Quickly! Get moving!

Candy: What happened to my lovely monkey calls?

(他們看見薩卡和一個(gè)高大的野人打斗在一起,野人胡須和指甲都很長。)

Danny: Rrrrrrggghgh! Arr! Get off – get off me! I won't hurt you! Who are you?

Candy: Saka, stop, we should first ask who he is.

Danny: Your voice …

Candy: See? I told you! Civilizing feminine! (She high-fives Adrian.)

Danny: No … I mean … Candy? Is that really you?

Candy: You know me? That's … that's ridiculous. I run into somebody on a desert island thousands of miles from my hometown, and they know me …

Saka: It is my speculation that the artifacts we brought from our homeworld create a probability distorting effect in this world. It heightens the possibility of what you would call 'coincidence.' We are all drawn into the web of fate.

Candy: Really?

Adrian: You know, I did wonder why it was that whenever we played cards around Sanjay, everyone would end up with ridiculously high sets at the most dramatic time.

Candy: Ok, probability nonsense aside – who the hell are you?

Danny: Candy, don't you recognize me? Look at my face.

Candy: I really don't know who you are.

Danny: Oh, God, I'm your Danny!! I went to South America five years ago, you remember? I missed you every day. Did you come here to save me?

Candy: I don't … Danny? Danny, is that you? God, I thought you were dead.

(她和丹尼擁抱在一起,兩人淚流滿面。然后蜜兒推開了丹尼)

Candy: I just can't believe this.

Danny: How did you come here?

Candy: Why are you here?

Saka: So, the two of your are previous acquaintances. Close acquaintances.

Candy: Danny was my boyfriend for two years. We … we broke up, and he went to the Amazon, to do medical research. Then … I didn't hear anything. For years. Nor did anyone else – not his family, or anyone. Danny, where have you been? On this island all this time. Why?

Danny: Her.

Saka: Serafima!

Danny: Don't tell me she dumped you all here too.

Candy: No, no … we came here by boat. Um, escaping her forces. This all sounds pretty silly, doesn't it? By the way, Saka here is an alien.

Danny: Oh, god, she's hooked you with that crazy nonsense! About other dimensions and exiled princes and regenerating aliens.

Candy: Really, it's true. We could cut Saka's arm and show you how quickly he heals. It's fun!

Saka: Yes, I deeply appreciate suffering cuts and bruises for the amusement or scientific edification of the rest of the group.

Candy: Oh, sorry. Anyway, really, it's true. But what are you doing here? Why would Serafima exile you here? Did you threaten her plans? You're not an alien too, are you? This is all getting very confusing.

Danny: It's worse than that.

Candy: What is it?

Danny: That psychopath is in love with me.

Xiaoqiang: (eyeing Danny suspiciously) So, we just happen to run into Candy's old boyfriend … in the middle of the ocean. Are we certain we can trust this guy?

Sanjay: I think Mr Xiaoqiang is jealous.

Xiaoqiang: What? I'm not! I'm just concerned. All this is an awfully big coincidence …

Sanjay: Xiaoqiang and Candy sitting in a tree!

Xiaoqiang: Stop it!

Sanjay: K-I-S-S-I-N-G!

Xiaoqiang: Seriously, stop it!

Sanjay: First comes love, first come marriage, then comes father with a baby carriage!

Xiaoqiang: Really, stop it!

Candy: Sanjay, be quiet. I'm sorry, Danny – he is just a little boy sometimes.

Danny: And an alien prince?

Candy: Apparently.

Adrian: So … Danny – tell us how you ended up here.

Danny: There's not that much to tell. I was working on an expedition in the Amazon, and we stumbled into their camps. I thought she was some kind of drug lord, or smuggler. Anyway, she took some kind of a lunatic fancy to me. Said I was 'destined to be her gene-husband, and preserve the line.' That I had some kind of quality that made me capable to … um … breed with her. She wanted a formal ceremony. I refused.

Saka: Ah, yes. The ceremony of union. It is very important, where we come from. She would never attempt to have children without it.

Danny: Anyway, she dumped me here until I 'changed my mind' and agreed to marry her. It's been five years. Five long years.

Saka: How is it that you have survived? Are you a master of the way of the Mears?

Danny: The whatnow?

Candy: Ignore our lunatic alien ninja friend.

Saka: Really. I am not a ninja. Ninja are from Japan. I learnt this on the Discovery Channel.

Candy: So, how did you survive, Danny? You were always more at home in the lab than in the field.

Danny: Well, I can't say I haven't picked up some hunting skills here. But there are supplies too. Every year, she sends a ship, with food, and new bedding, and a doctor that checks me out. And they ask for my answer. And every year, I tell the crazy bitch no, and they leave. It's weird but … it's due again soon. In a week, I think, if I've been keeping my calendar right. I scratch it onto trees. God, it's so good to be talking to real people again. I tried to teach a monkey English, but it turns out they're just not that bright.

Xiaoqiang: The crazy bitch? Really? But you seem to get pretty excited when you mention her.

Danny: Well, she's been a big part of my life - you know, with the kidnapping and forced marriage and everything …

Candy: Don't worry, Danny, we'll get you away from her. It's good to see you, anyway.

Xiaoqiang: Just a moment – it was Danny's face you saw on the photograph, wasn't it? When I got you to sign up to my trip …

Candy: Yes, it was.

Xiaoqiang: So – you were with my uncle! On the expedition?

Danny: Old Wu is your uncle? Yes! We were together – he was captured too.

Xiaoqiang: We think he escaped - he wrote me an enigmatic letter.

Danny: He was a sly old fox, alright. I wouldn't put getting away past him.

Saka: This ship – it is heavily loaded? Many men.

Danny: Yes, a couple of dozen.

Saka: We can deal with them. My friends – my prince – this is a way out. We have to ambush the ship!

情景:大伙登上小島后發(fā)現(xiàn)有野人的足跡。

薩卡:那你覺得這里有其他人?

蜜兒:好像是的。我們發(fā)現(xiàn)了腳印。是光著腳的。

艾德里安:我看了看這些腳印,覺得他的指甲很長,腳掌很粗糙。不管是誰,他肯定已經(jīng)在這里呆了很久了。

蜜兒:他肯定也已經(jīng)習(xí)慣隱藏自己了。我們沒有發(fā)現(xiàn)他的其它行蹤。

艾德里安:他可能很危險(xiǎn)。獨(dú)自在這里呆這么久,他可能已經(jīng)徹底崩潰的。把我們當(dāng)成敵人、入侵者。他可能會(huì)追殺我們。

蜜兒:或許他還沒有發(fā)現(xiàn)我們。你們想想,他多可憐,被困在這里那么久,他是怎么活下來的呢?至少這意味著這個(gè)島能維持生命達(dá)相當(dāng)長的時(shí)間。

艾德里安:或許他是一艘船上的落難者——一名落水的船員。沒有信號(hào)彈,他很難引起過往船只的注意。

蜜兒:嗯,我們得找到他。至少他一定知道這兒什么東西能吃,什么不能吃。

薩卡:我去找他。

桑杰:白雪說她能聞到另外一個(gè)人。不是我們中間的人。她能幫忙找他。

小強(qiáng):為什么白雪之前不提到這個(gè)呢?

桑杰:沒人問啊。

小強(qiáng):好吧,桑杰,認(rèn)真聽我說。無論你什么時(shí)候得到對(duì)大家重要的信息,你能不能立刻告訴我們?就像在海上救你的那位神秘人。你沒有在附近看到其它吧,有嗎?比如一個(gè)小旅館,或者一艘船。

桑杰:沒有。白雪也沒發(fā)現(xiàn)。

小強(qiáng):有問題,你同這條狗的關(guān)系。我不在乎這是否是心靈相通,我還是不相信她有那么聰明。我好幾次看見它從我的床上跳下來追球玩。

蜜兒:好了,薩卡看了那么多雷?米爾斯的《極限生存》,加上白雪,有了他們我們應(yīng)該可以找到這個(gè)人。我跟你們一起去。也許見到女人會(huì)讓他安靜下來。他肯定很久沒見過女孩子了……或許我能起到教化作用。

小強(qiáng):計(jì)劃貌似不錯(cuò)。艾德里安和我將留守,注意海上有沒有過往船只。不能讓任何獲救的機(jī)會(huì)溜走。

薩卡:如果我們見到他,就知會(huì)其他人。

蜜兒:怎么(讓我們知道)?

薩卡:(通過)某種動(dòng)物的聲音……

蜜兒:嗯,貓頭鷹么?

艾德里安:在太平洋中央的一個(gè)小島上?那不有點(diǎn)兒可疑么?我覺得這里不會(huì)有貓頭鷹。

蜜兒:猴子怎樣?嗷……嗷……!

小強(qiáng):猴子可以。咱們走吧。

(過了一會(huì)兒。)

薩卡:嗷……嗷……!

蜜兒:他肯定看到什么東西了。咱們快過去。

艾德里安:等等,美女!我沒以前年輕了。

薩卡:快點(diǎn)兒,你們倆?？?快過來!

蜜兒:可愛的小猴子怎么不叫了?

(他們看見薩卡和一個(gè)高大的野人打斗在一起,野人的胡須和指甲都很長。)

丹尼:啊……!啊!快松手,放開我,我不會(huì)傷害你們!你們是誰!

蜜兒:薩卡,別打了,先問問他是誰。

丹尼:你的聲音……

蜜兒:看到了吧?我給你們說了!女人能起到開化作用。(她跟艾德里安擊掌。)

丹尼:不……我的意思是……蜜兒?真的是你么?

蜜兒:你知道我?這……這太可笑了。我在離家數(shù)千英里的一個(gè)荒島上碰到了一個(gè)人,他竟然認(rèn)識(shí)我……

薩卡:我猜我們從家鄉(xiāng)帶來的人工制品有可能改變了世界。它提高了發(fā)生你們所稱的“巧合”的可能性。我們都奇怪為什么進(jìn)入了這個(gè)命運(yùn)之網(wǎng)。

蜜兒:真的么?

艾德里安:你知道,每次我們?cè)谏＝芘赃叴蚺茣r(shí),每個(gè)人總會(huì)有好牌。

蜜兒:行了,不說幾率這些亂七八糟的事了,你到底是誰?

丹尼:蜜兒,你不認(rèn)識(shí)我了?看著我的臉。

蜜兒:真的不認(rèn)識(shí)。

丹尼:天哪,我是你的丹尼!!五年前我去了南美,想起來了嗎?我每天都在想你,你是來救我的嗎?

蜜兒:我不……丹尼?丹尼,是你么?上帝,我還以為你早就死了。

(她和丹尼擁抱在一起,兩人淚流滿面。然后蜜兒推開了丹尼。)

蜜兒:我簡直不敢相信。

丹尼:你們是怎么到這里來的?

蜜兒:你怎么會(huì)在這兒?

薩卡:你們倆之前認(rèn)識(shí)啊。關(guān)系還很親密。

蜜兒:丹尼是我相戀兩年的男朋友。我們……分手了,他去了亞馬遜,去進(jìn)行醫(yī)學(xué)研究。之后……我再也沒有他的消息。很多年了。別人也沒他的消息,包括他的家人和其他人。丹尼,你去哪里了?一直在這個(gè)島上。為什么呢?

丹尼:她。

薩卡:色拉費(fèi)瑪!

丹尼:別跟我說她把你們都扔到這里了。

蜜兒:不,不……我們是坐船過來的。嗯,逃脫她的魔爪。這些聽起來很愚蠢,是吧?順便給你說,薩卡是個(gè)外星人。

丹尼:啊,天哪,她用那些胡言亂語蒙你們。其他維度、流放的王子和會(huì)再生的外星人,等等。

蜜兒:真的,是真的。我們可以砍下薩卡的胳膊,讓你看他愈合得有多快。這很有意思!

薩卡:是啊,我很喜歡自己受傷,給其他人帶去快樂,對(duì)他們進(jìn)行科學(xué)啟迪。

蜜兒:哦,抱歉。不管怎樣,真的,這是真的。可是你在這里做什么呢?色拉費(fèi)瑪為什么把你流放到這里?你是不是妨礙他的計(jì)劃了?你不是外星人吧,是么?越來越蹊蹺了。

丹尼:比那更糟。

蜜兒:怎么了?

桑杰:小強(qiáng)和蜜兒坐在樹上。

小強(qiáng):住嘴!

桑杰:接……吻……!

小強(qiáng):拜托,別說了!

桑杰:先是戀愛,然后是結(jié)婚,接下來是變成一個(gè)推著嬰兒車的父親。

小強(qiáng):拜托,別說了!

蜜兒:桑杰,別說了。抱歉,丹尼,他有時(shí)只是個(gè)小孩子。

丹尼:而且是個(gè)外星球的王子?

蜜兒:顯然是的。

艾德里安:那……丹尼,給大家說說你怎么到這里的。

丹尼:沒什么可說的。我當(dāng)時(shí)跟一個(gè)探險(xiǎn)隊(duì)在亞馬遜探險(xiǎn),我們不小心闖入了他們的基地。我以為她是毒販子,或者走私分子。反正她瘋狂喜歡上了我。說我“注定是她的丈夫,說我有皇家血統(tǒng)”,說我有某種能力,可以跟她生孩子。她想要個(gè)正式的儀式。我拒絕了。

薩卡:啊,是的。結(jié)婚儀式。這很重要,在我們來的地方。沒有這個(gè)她是絕不會(huì)要孩子的。

小強(qiáng):瘋女人?真的么?我怎么感覺你提到她時(shí)好興奮啊。

丹尼:哦,她成了我生活的一部分,你知道,綁架、逼婚,等等。

蜜兒:不要擔(dān)心,丹尼。我們會(huì)讓你擺脫她的。不過見到你還是感覺真好。

小強(qiáng):等等——你在照片上看到的是丹尼的臉,不是么?我讓你參加此次旅行時(shí)……

蜜兒:嗯,是的。

小強(qiáng):那,你是跟我叔叔在一起!在探險(xiǎn)過程中。

丹尼:老吳是你的叔叔么?是的,我們?cè)谝黄?他也被捕了。

小強(qiáng):我們以為他逃跑了,因?yàn)樗€寫了一封神秘的信給我。

丹尼:他可是個(gè)狡猾的老狐貍。

薩卡:那艘船,裝了很多東西吧?有很多人吧。

丹尼:是的,有十幾個(gè)人。

薩卡:我們能對(duì)付他們。我的朋友,我的王子,這是一條出路。我們必須偷襲這艘船。

1. crack up

意為“nervous breakdown”,即“精神、身體等崩潰”。

例句:Family problems made him crack up.

家庭問題弄得他精神崩潰了。

2. a good while

意為“a fairly long time”,即“相當(dāng)久的時(shí)間”。

例句:For this my boss dressed me down for a good while.

為此老板斥責(zé)了我半天。

3. come into

意為“得到”,它還有“繼承”的意思。

例句:He came into a fortune on his 21st birthday.

他21歲生日時(shí)發(fā)了一筆財(cái)。

4. It's not healthy, your relationship with the dog.

“Not healthy”原意為“不健康的”,但這里應(yīng)譯為“有問題的”。小強(qiáng)懷疑薩卡和白雪之間的心靈相通。

5. …between Saka's extensive watching of Ray Mears' Extreme Survival and Sanjay and Snow White…

“Between…and…”理解成“在什么和什么之間”就錯(cuò)了,這里意為“有了……和……的幫助”。另外,《極限生存》是由英國著名暢銷書作者雷?米爾斯拍攝的系列片,由BBC制作,內(nèi)容為野外生存技巧,在歐美等地非常受歡迎。

6. Seems like a plan.

這句話是“It seems like a good plan.”的縮寫。

7. slip by/away/past

意為“溜走、流逝”。

例句:He's not really on the ball - he lets so many chances slip by.

他不是很機(jī)警——他讓許多機(jī)會(huì)溜走。

Although a period of 20 years sounds quite long, the time will slip by very quickly.

二十年,時(shí)間看起來長,可一晃就過去了。

8. high-five

這是美國文化手勢的一種,并沒有正式的中文名稱,一般代表了“慶祝成功的擊掌”有時(shí)也寫成“Give me five”。這個(gè)手勢用于兩人之間,動(dòng)作是兩人各高舉一只手,并向?qū)Ψ降氖峙膿簟?/p>

9. run into

意為“偶然遇見”,同義短語為“come across”。

例句:I ran into an old friend during my recent trip to Shanghai.

我最近去上海出差時(shí)偶然遇到了一位老朋友。

10. Yes, I deeply appreciate suffering cuts and bruises for the amusement or scientific edification of the rest of the group.

薩卡這句話是反諷。蜜兒說能砍下薩卡的胳膊,然后看它愈合得有多快,還說這很有趣。薩卡便順著她的話說,間接表達(dá)了對(duì)蜜兒此言的不滿。

11. take a fancy to

意為“喜歡上”,同義短語為“have a crush on”。

例句:I've taken a fancy to mustard.

我喜歡上了芥末。

They took a great fancy to each other.

他們彼此愛慕。

12. The ceremony of union.

“Union”在這里是“婚姻”的意思,因此“ceremony of union”便是“結(jié)婚儀式”。

13. be/feel at home with/in

意為“to feel happy or confident about doing or using something” ,即“做某事或使用某種東西感到高興或自信”。

例句:He is quite at home in French.

他對(duì)法語運(yùn)用自如。
