Its out[不流行] with the tinsel[金銀絲,金屬片] and in with the comics at Gucci as the Milan Fashion Week label starts 2013 with a new collaboration[合作].
The brands creative director, Frida Giannini, has teamed up with[與……合作] famous Japanese manga[漫畫(huà)] artist Hirohiko Araki to create a window installation[設(shè)置] inspired[激發(fā)] by the labels Cruise 2013 collection.
Entitled[稱為] Jolyne, Fly High with Gucci, Arakis manga tells the adventure of Jolyne Kujo (the heroine[女主人公] from the Sixth Part of JoJos Bizarre Adventure), who inherits a keepsake[紀(jì)念品] from her mothers Gucci collection. Propelled[驅(qū)使] by the mystery behind her vintage[古老的] treasure[珍寶,財(cái)富], Jolyne embarks on[開(kāi)始] a journey that transcends[超越] time.
Installed across some 70-plus Gucci boutiques worldwide, Giannini commented[評(píng)論]: “I am quite sure his window installations will stop people in their tracks in cities around the world as they immerse[陷入] themselves in the fabulous[令人驚異的] fantasy[幻想] world he has created.”
Araki revealed[顯示出] how he has “always been fascinated[迷住] by Italy.” He added: “Fridas beautiful Cruise collection with its strong colours and graphic designs set my mind racing the moment she showed it to me. From there the characters and storyline[故事情節(jié)] came into being so naturally. It was very stimulating[刺激的] to work together on this project.”

Japanese manga artist Hirohiko Araki is best known for his long-running[長(zhǎng)期上演的] series JoJos Bizarre Adventure, first published in Weekly Shounen Jump in 1987 and which to date has sold over 70 million copies in Japan alone. The story is full of references to Western music and Italy, both of which Araki is reportedly[據(jù)傳說(shuō)] very fond of.
The series began in 1880s England following Jonathan Joestar (JoJo) and his adopted brother Dio Brando, who determines to kill their father to get the inheritance. When confronted[面對(duì)], Dio puts on an ancient mask that turns him into a vampire[吸血鬼]. JoJo has to learn a technique called hamon (or ripple[波紋]) to stop Dio from destorying the world. Subsequent[接著發(fā)生的] arcs[情節(jié)發(fā)展] of JoJo follow descendants[后代] of the Joestar family, and many are set in different parts of the world.
In 2009, Araki was one of five artists selected by the Musée du Louvre to create original works set at the famous museum. His piece Rohan au Louvre starred JoJos Rohan Kishibe and was part of an exhibit to show the diversity of comics.
In 2011, the Gucci store in Shinjuku hosted the “Rohan Kishibe Goes to Gucci” Exhibition. The exhibit celebrated the 90th anniversary of Gucci and featured numerous illustrations by the artist.
