Air might lead to obesityy
To make the things we talk about more vivid,rhetoric is often used.For example,when seeing a friend or a person we know whose body becomes huge in a short period of time,we would say he is just like a balloon full of air. Here metaphor and exaggeration are adopted.
But the reality is that air does have some effect on body figure.
Breathing in and out is the thing we do every minute. And without air we won’t live long.But that life-giving air might just be pushing you towards diabetes and obesity.
Two people can eat the same foods,and do the same exercise,but over the course of a few years,one may put on more weight and develop a faulty metabolism thanks to the atmosphere around their home.
Traffic fumes and cigarette smoke are the chief concerns,with their tiny,irritating particles that trigger widespread inflammation and disrupt the body’s ability to burn energy.
Researchers did experiment with laboratory mice. They divided mice into two groups.Some breathed filtered,clean,air,while others had to live with the kinds of fumes you might find next to a motorway or busy city centre.
After just 10 weeks,the effects were already visible. The mice exposed to the air pollution showed greater volumes of body fat,both around the belly and around the internal organs.What’s more,they seemed to have become less sensitive to insulin the hormone that signals to cells to convert blood sugar into energy.
為了讓描述的事物更加生動形象,我們經(jīng)常用到修辭。比如:看到朋友或熟人突然發(fā)福,我們會說他就像“充滿氣的氣球”。這里使用了比喻和夸張。
但現(xiàn)實是,空氣真的會影響我們的體型。
我們每時每刻都在呼吸,離開了空氣,我們無法生存。但是,我們賴以為生的空氣可能引起糖尿病和肥胖。
讓兩個人吃一樣的食物,進(jìn)行一樣的鍛煉,但是幾年后,其中的一個可能因為自己周圍的空氣而重量增加,新陳代謝變差。
研究人員用小白鼠進(jìn)行了實驗。他們把小白鼠分為兩組。一組呼吸經(jīng)過過濾的、干凈的空氣;另一組則生活在類似于機(jī)動車道或者城市中心空氣的環(huán)境中。
僅僅10周后,效果開始顯現(xiàn)。呼吸污染空氣的小白鼠胖了很多,腹部和體內(nèi)器官都有脂肪增加。更重要的是,這些小白鼠似乎對胰島素已經(jīng)不太敏感,而胰島素的作用就是指示細(xì)胞把血糖轉(zhuǎn)換為能量。
