Xi Jinping Meets with King and Queen Mother of Cambodia

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk of Cambodia on March 6 in Beijing.

Xi Jinping pointed out at the meeting that the precious nature of the traditional friendship between China and Cambodia lies in its being forged and cultivated by the older generations of Chinese leaders and the late Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk. Since entering a new historical period China-Cambodia relations have revitalized and achieved substantial development. At present， the two countries share high political mutual trust； they also engage in mutually beneficial economic cooperation to help one anothers national development and intensify their coordination in international and regional affairs. Long committed to proactively promoting ChinaCambodia friendship， the Cambodian royal family has made important contributions to the development of bilateral relations.

Xi said that both sides should deepen mutually beneficial and practical cooperation， strengthen their integration of development strategies， and advance cooperation in key projects. The two sides should also enhance coordination in multilateral affairs and continue to contribute to safeguarding regional stability and the overall situation of China-ASEAN cooperation.

Norodom Sihamoni and Norodom Monineath Sihanouk expressed thanks to China on behalf of the Cambodian royal family， government， and people for the countrys proactive support of Cambodias national economic and social development. The Cambodian royal family will inherit the late King Norodom Sihanouks friendly policy towards China and uphold the continuous development of bilateral relations.

Trump Meets with Senior Chinese Official

U.S. President Donald Trump met with visiting Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi on February 27 at the White House.

Yang noted President Xi Jinpings recent important phone conversation with President Trump， and its clear guidelines on the development direction of China-U.S. relations at the next stage. In following through on the spirit of that phone conversation and upholding the principles of non-conflict， non-confrontation， mutual respect， and win-win cooperation， China is willing to enhance exchanges with the U.S. at all levels. The country will also expand coordination and cooperation with the U.S. on bilateral， regional and global issues wherein both nations respect one anothers core interests and major concerns. Ensuring steady and healthy development of China-U.S. ties will undoubtedly benefit both peoples and the world as a whole， Yang added.

Trump said that the U.S. highly regards its cooperative relations with China， and highlighted the need to enhance high-level exchanges， strengthen cooperation in all areas， and increase coordination and cooperation on global and regional affairs.

Yang held separate meetings on the same day with various senior U.S. officials， including Senior White House Advisor Jared Kushner， White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon， and National Security Advisor Herbert Raymond McMaster， to exchange views on how best to promote Sino-U.S. ties and other issues of mutual concern.

China， Singapore Set Priorities for Future Cooperation

China and Singapore agreed on February 27 to further synergize their respective development strategies， deepen mutually beneficial cooperation， and so advance their ties. The pledge was made at a meeting between Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli and Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean in Beijing.

China attaches great importance to developing its relations with Singapore， and is willing to make joint efforts with the country to sincerely implement the consensus reached by the leaders of both sides， Zhang said. He called on the two sides to deepen political mutual trust， cement public support， and strengthen cooperation to push for greater development of bilateral ties.

Teo applauded the smooth development of major cooperative projects， including the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park， Tianjin Eco-City， and the Chongqing Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity. Singapore is ready to take part in the Belt and Road Initiative and to enhance cooperation with China in such areas as infrastructure connectivity， finance， and conducting joint training programs， Teo said.

Zhang and Teo also co-chaired four high-level cooperative meetings between China and Singapore， including the 13th China-Singapore Joint Council for Bilateral Cooperation Meeting， the 18th China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park Joint Steering Council Meeting， the ninth China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Joint Steering Council Meeting， and the First ChinaSingapore （Chongqing） Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity Joint Steering Council Meeting.

China-Denmark Tourism Year Kicks off

The 2017 China-Denmark Tourism Year commenced with a launch ceremony on February 24 in Beijing， to which Chinese President Xi Jinping sent his congratulatory message. Xi noted the longstanding friendship between the two countries despite the great distance between them. He expressed hope that the tourism year program will enhance their friendship， deepen cultural and people-to-people exchanges， and add new impetus to the comprehensive strategic partnership.

Li Jinzao， chairman of China National Tourism Administration， delivered the keynote speech at the ceremony. He observed that the number of Chinese and Danish tourists traveling between the two countries surpassed 210，000 in 2016. As the first tourism year China has established with a Northern European country， the 2017 China-Denmark Tourism Year will provide a new platform for exchanges and business cooperation between the two countries.

Several tourism agreements were signed at the ceremony， including one between Chinas Baidu Maps and the Royal Danish Embassy in Beijing.
