There is an unusual holiday in the US that falls on the fourth Thursday of April every year. It is very different from Christmas， Thanksgiving， or other wellknown holidays. It is called Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.

美國在每年四月份的第四個周四是一個不常見的節(jié)日。這個節(jié)日和圣誕節(jié)、感恩節(jié)等其它著名的節(jié)日有很大的不同。這個節(jié)日被稱為“帶女兒兒子上班日”。

This holiday is meant to be educational as well as fun. The idea is simple， and the name says it all. It is a day for working parents to take their children to work for one day and show them what they do all day.

這個節(jié)日意味著教育性，也有著趣味性。概念很簡單，顧名思義，在這一天，有工作的父母們帶著自己的孩子上一天班，給孩子展示他們一整天的工作內容。

It is a nonprofit1 educational program in the United States， Canada and Australia. In the Canadian province of Ontario， it occurs on the 1st Wednesday of November. In Sydney， Melbourne， and Brisbane， Australia， it occurs on January 5th， just after Christmas Break.

在美國、加拿大和澳大利亞，這都是個非盈利性質的教育項目。加拿大安大略省將這個節(jié)日定在十一月的第一個周三；澳大利亞的悉尼、墨爾本和布里斯班則定在一月五號，正好在圣誕假期之后。

It was created in New York in the summer of 1992 by the Ms. Foundation2 for Women and its president， Marie C. Wilson， the Womens foundation treasurer3， Ms. Daren Ball， and with support from foundation founder Gloria Steinem. The first celebration4 took place on April 22nd， 1993.

該節(jié)日于1992年夏天在紐約，由女士基金會和基金會主席瑪麗·C·威爾遜及基金會財務主管戴爾仁·波女士，在基金會創(chuàng)始人格洛麗亞·斯坦尼恩的支持下共同創(chuàng)立。首次慶祝該節(jié)日是在1993年4月22日。

Although this holiday doesnt seem very complex5， it has meaningful6 purposes. There are many good reasons why a child should know what his or her parents do at work. For one thing， it is hard for children to understand the life of an adult when all they know is school. So this holiday helps children learn what it means to have a job. It also helps them learn about the differences and similarities7 between their world and the grownup world. When young people know more about their parents lives， they can form stronger parentchild relationships8. This alone is worth a day of celebration.

盡管這個節(jié)日看起來不算很復雜，但目的卻很有意義。（人們）有充分的理由說明為什么孩子應該知道自己的父母上班時在做些什么的。首先當孩子們所知的只有學校的時候，他們很難理解成年人的生活。所以這個節(jié)日可以幫助孩子理解工作是什么，還能幫他們理解自己的世界和成年人世界的不同與相同之處。當孩子們對父母的生活有更多的了解后，他們就能夠建立更牢固的親子關系。僅僅是這一點，就值得用一天（作為節(jié)日）來慶祝。
