except

except作介詞時,意為“除……之外”,后面可接名詞、代詞、介詞短語等,表示一種排除關(guān)系,即except后面的人或物不包括在前面的范圍之內(nèi)。except常與all,every,no,nothing等含有整體肯定或否定意義的詞語連用。例如：

His father goes to work every day except Sunday.除星期天外,他父親每天都上班。

All the workers are in the meeting room except him.除他之外,所有的工人都在會議室。

【辨析】besides也可以作介詞,意為“除……之外（還有）……”,表示“包括；補充”的含義,強調(diào)除去的部分與提到的內(nèi)容是一個性質(zhì)或一起的。例如：

What other sports do you like besides basketball?除籃球外你還喜歡哪些運動？

worth

worth作形容詞,意為“值(多少錢)；相當(dāng)于……的價值；值得”等,后接名詞、代詞或v.-ing形式。be worth doing sth.意為“值得做某事”,主動形式表示被動意義,其中動詞必須是及物動詞（短語）,句子的主語在邏輯上是后面動名詞（短語）的賓語。例如：

I think it is worth three hundred dollars at most.我認(rèn)為它最多值300美元。

His speech is worth listening to.他的演講值得聽。

【注意】當(dāng)表達(dá)“很值得”的意思時,要用well修飾worth而不能用very。例如：

That book is well worth reading again.那本書很值得再讀一遍。
