Dear Jim,
Im so glad to hear your future education plan in Beijing in your last letter. First I would like to express my warmest welcome to you and I am sure you will have the most unforgettable experience during your college in Beijing.
Learning your keen interest in Chinese culture, I suggest you apply for Peking University, one of the best universities in China. Its Chinese Literature major is perfect for you where you can be completely soaked in Chinese profound history and rich culture.
As for preparation, doing some reading in advance is needed like The Story of the Stone while some online courses of spoken Chinese can be helpful for you to adapt into the Chinese language environment.
I sincerely hope your dream will come true and its my pleasure to show you around in Beijing when you come. If you have any other questions, please feel free to let me know.
Yours,
Li Hua
2.
Dear Jim,
Im Li Hua. I have learned from your letter that your school plans to organize a trip to China and youd like to ask for my advice. Comparing with“the trip to Yangtze River”, I prefer “the trip to Mount Tai”.
Situated in Shandong Province, Mount Tai is considered as the head of the Five Mountains, attracting endless tourists from all over the world every year. The reason why I tend to recommend it is that it enjoys a tremendous popularity because of its beautiful landscape. Besides, it will greatly kindle your passion for Chinese culture. Thus, it is a precious opportunity for you to appreciate the charm of China.
I wish that you will have a joyful as well as memorable trip there.
Yours,
Li Hua
3.
Dear Sir or Madam:
I am Li Hua, a student from Xin Hua Middle School. I often visit your website. I am very glad to know that you will make a new round of courses and are collecting topics facing the middle school students.
As a student, I really want to recommend a topic to you wholeheartedly. It is that we should be thankful. Living in this world, we have many people that we should be thankful to. We should be thankful to our parents because it was they that brought us into this world; we should be thankful to our teachers because they taught us everything we know and we should be thankful to our friends because they always give us a hand when we meet difficulties. Ill be glad if you can consider my recommendation.
I hope that this activity will be a great success.
Yours,
Li Hua

1.
Dear Chris,
In your last letter, you asked if I could recommend some suitable Chinese books for you to read. Id like to recommend A Dream of Red Mansions. As your Chinese is excellent and youre deeply interested in Chinese history and culture, youll definitely find this book interesting and rewarding. Known as one of Chinas Four Great Classical Novels, A Dream of Red Mansions is often described as an “encyclopedia of Chinese traditional culture”. The novel is famed not only for its huge cast of characters, but also for its precise and detailed description of 18th-century Chinese society. It will be appreciated if my recommendation is considered.
And I hope that you can come to China, and then I can show you around, visiting places of interest concerning Chinese culture. Looking forward to your arrival!
Yours,
Li Hua
2.
Dear Peter,
Im so excited to learn that you are coming to Beijing this summer vacation. I just cant wait to see you. Regarding your two choices of how to spend the day, Id like to recommend the second: a one-day tour of the Forbidden City and Tianmen Square. The reasons are as follows.
As the largest museum of culture and art in China, and the center of the Beijing city, the two scenic spots have been regarded as must-see attractions, especially for those who will visit Beijing for only one day. Dont worry about the tour guide. I can accompany you throughout the day. Were sure to have a good time. I hope my suggestion will be of some help to you.
If you have any other questions just write to me.
Yours,
Li Hua
