Its a hot and humid（潮濕的） summer day. Why not eat a watermelon？ Tian Tian thinks that watermelons are the best fruit for summer. But she has a problem. She doesnt know how to pick a sweet watermelon at the store.

“They all look the same.” Tian Tian thinks， “How can I know if the fruit inside will be sweet or sour， juicy or dry， firm（脆的） or mushy（沙瓤的）？” What a problem for a fan of watermelons！ So， what should Tian Tian do？

Tian Tian asks her grandma for help.

“Look at the color，” says grandma. “It should be dark green all over. This means that the watermelon got enough sun.”

Then she adds， “Feel the centre. It should have small bumps（隆起） on it. Next， squeeze（壓） the skin. If it is hard， the watermelon will be sweet.”

Thump（砰）， thump， thump， grandma hits the watermelon with her hand. “Last but not least， we should listen for a deep， thumping sound.”
