Journey into the world’s largest and most visited museum in the world, the Louvre. From its castle foundation to its current state as home to some 38,000 treasured works of art, discover their stories and history, and spend quality time with the Mona Lisa on this one of a kind storytelling experience. On this live online tour, our expert Louvre guides will help you understand the architectural transition (建筑的過渡) from castle to art gallery, and the important works of art.

The ancient statue of Venus de Milo plays an important role in the modern culture. But why is she considered one of the best examples of Greek sculpture? And what secrets does she tell in her figure of ancient Greece? Our experts will answer these questions and tell you all the little details some observers may miss.

Moving on to other works we will visit the Winged Victory of Samothrace generally held as a competitor in beauty to the statue of Venus we just explored. Our guides will explain the discussion over its origins, other images inspired by her figure, and where, how, and why she traveled in the year 1939.

After a look at a few more masterpieces we will continue our way through the halls, moving closer to a painting so famous that it attracts close to six million visitors each year. The time spent looking at her is only 15 seconds—though we will spend much more time in her presence through the storytelling of our expert guides. The painting hardly needs a name—but that painting is the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci.

The Benefit of Digital Art

Digital art is the process of creating artistic works using computers and software. Let’s have a look.

Digital art is often quicker to finish.

Take oil paintings for example. If you create one in the traditional way, you will need all kinds of tools like paper, water and paints. But with my computer and the right software, I can start a digital oil painting in less than 10 seconds.

A computer with the right apps and software might cost you $1,000, but physical art is pretty expensive. Pencils, paper, paints, paintbrushes and all of the other things you need soon get expensive. And they all need replacing—things can easily reach that $1,000 and beyond.

Digital art avoids using much space of your room.

Drawings and paintings can take up lots of physical space. I have many physical drawings which are stored in boxes in my room. It sounds crazy to say this but they just kept building up. Joyfully, digital art will not take up much space of the room.

Digital art makes it easy to deal with mistakes.

Digital art gives you the wonderful ability to correct your mistakes. Any time you make a mistake, you can step back from it right away with a push of a button. As for traditional art, it’s not easy to correct a mistake. For example, when your pen accidentally falls on your painting, you may not be able to deal with it.

A. Digital art helps save money.

B. These tools can be very important.

C. It takes time to prepare all of these.

D. And your painting will be destroyed.

E. Digital art will never be a paper killer.

F. But they never see the light of day now.

G. Compared with traditional art, digital art has some advantages.

My classmates and I visited the city museum on last Friday, where an exhibition of the traditional Chinese folk handicrafts were going on. Various handicrafts were on display, so each of them had unique style. While admiring them, we feel proud of the excellent skill of the Chinese people. Besides, some craftsmen were invited to show how to make it, which was very impressive. We thought the exhibition was well worth visited. It was the trip to the museum which helped us learn more about the Chinese art and culture. It is wide accepted that appreciating one’s own culture is important for understanding oneself.

A

I am a Canadian artist living in Victoria. My work focuses on peace. My art helps me find answers, or at least deal with some of the worrying realities of the modern day.

My trips to Baghdad standing for peace caused huge stress to my family and me. It took a few years before I was able to come to accept that whole experience and work out how to continue to work as an artist. I put my energy into creating natural art facilities that awoke a sense of peace in myself and others. I set up my first project in a large field, using a simple mother and child design. I later did two similar, small works, one in Scotland and the other in Baghdad.

I wanted to create something more permanent (永恒的). So I created the “Peace Image” in Hudson’s Hope. It can’t be seen very well on the ground these days, because the locals just loved riding over the large piles of dirt. I don’t mind that at all. The “Peace Image” still turns up well from the air and on Google Maps though.

For more than 50 years now, I’ve felt pleased to be able to express myself through my art. In the autumn of 2013, I was encouraged to lead a Peace Garden art project at Woodwynn Farms in Central Saanich. After everything we had been through, it was such a gift to work closely with my wife, Elizabeth Wellburn, a talented artist. It was and still is a labor of love.

Photography is a very popular art form. Anyone with a camera or a mobile phone can practice it. A picture communicates in a way that words often can’t. As the photographer Destin Sparks put it, “Photography is the story I fail to put into words.” And there’s no better chance to practice the art of photography than during our vacation time.

Holiday photos have been a part of the culture of travelers for a long time. For decades, vacationers have made sure they’ve packed a camera along with bathing suits, Hawaiian shirts and sunglasses. A camera is an important holiday item. But over the last 10 years, photography has become much more popular. It’s easy to capture still and moving pictures of places of interest, and it’s also easy to show off these pictures on social media. Armed with their smart phones, tourists, this year more than ever, are capturing the beauty of our planet.

Of course, travel companies have caught on to this. Trekksoft has an example of photo-tourism from the United States, a land with a vast choice of beautiful locations. Antelope Slot Canyon Tours in Arizona specializes in tours of the state’s famous canyons, which gives photographers the chance to capture them on camera.

Most of the tourists are able to make beautiful images with just their mobile phones. Still, help is on hand from the tour guide for those who aren’t great at using their cameras. These tour guides have taken a course in photography in case the skills they’ve learned would help their customers.

5. According to the author, the best time to practice photography is when? .

A. you are traveling around B. you have stories to tell

C. you have a tour guide to help you D. you have a mobile phone with you

6. Why has photography become more popular in the past ten years?

D. Posting pictures on social media becomes easy.

7. What does the underlined word “this” in Paragraph 3 refer to?

A. The beauty of our planet. B. The tourism in the US.
