俗話說：世上無難事，只怕有心人。很多事情，只要持之以恒地去做，就會(huì)獲得成功。本文敘述了查理在大雪后，在父母的鼓勵(lì)指導(dǎo)下，堅(jiān)持不懈開辟出一條雪路的故事。

It was a snowy day on the first day of the winter holiday. When Charley woke up， he looked from the window and saw the ground deeply covered with snow. On the side of the house， the snow was higher than Charleys head.

“We need a path（通道）through this snow， ”said his father.“I have to be at the office early this morning， so I dont have time to make one. Do you think you could make the path， son？” he asked little Charley.

“Me？ The snow is higher than my head！ How could I ever make a path through that snow？

“How？ By doing it little by little. How about you having a try？”asked his father. Then he left for his office.

So Charley got the snow shovel and set to work. He threw up（揚(yáng)起）first one shovelful and then another， but it was slow work. “I dont think I can do it， mom，”he said. “A shovelful is so little， and there is so much snow.” “Little by little， Charley，” said his mother.

“That snow fell in very small pieces， flake by flake（一片接一片）， but you see what a great pile（堆）it has made.”“Yes， mom， I see，”said Charley. “If I throw it away little by little， it will soon be gone.”So he worked on. Several hours later， he made a path. He was tired but happy.

When his father came home for dinner， he was glad to see the fine path. The next day， he gave little Charley a fine blue sled（雪橇）. He painted “Little by Little” on the sled in yellow letters.
