China' s tourism market showed a better- than-expectedperformance over the just-endedeight-day Spring Festival holiday, which startedon Feb 10.
The latest figures from the Ministry of cul-ture and Tourism showed that traveler numbersas well as tourism- related revenue during theholiday reached record highs, thanks to people'sever- stronger desire to travel, ample marketsupplies and good tourism policies.
The ministry said on Sunday that the do-mestic tourism market saw 474 million tipsduring the holiday, up 34.3 percent year-on-year. The number marked a 19 percent increasecompared with the same holiday period in 2019.
Domestic tourism- related revenue reached632.69 billion yuan ($87.95 billion) during theholiday, a striking increase of 47.3 percent year-on-year and 7.7 percent growth from the sameholiday period in 2019.
Xiao Peng, a researcher with trave portalQunar, said that the longer holiday this year-it usually lasts seven days in other years-madetourism- focused trips amore popularchoiceamong the Chinese.
Southern destinations with warmer climateor tropical views. such as Kunming,Yunnanprovince, and Sanya, Hainan province,re-mained top choices for tourists, according totravel agencies. Return- flight tickets in econo-my class departing Sanya were sold out early,leaving only tickets in busmess or first class.
Tuniu, another travel portal, said that desti-nations and museums with a rich cultural atmo-sphere or those highlighting cultural elementsof the dragon were favored by travelers mark-ing the beginning of the Year of the Dragon.
In addition, some northern destinationswith snow and ice views also proved popularduring the holiday. Among them. Harbin Ice-Snow World in the northeastern province ofHeilongjiang received 329,000 visits from Feb10 to Feb14 - the first five days of the holi-day - with the traveler number marking asurge of 115 percent from the previous year, ac-cording to Harbin ' s culture and tourism bureau.
In addition to the prosperous domestictourism, the inbound and outbound tourismmarket also delivered a surprisingly good per-formance during the holiday. The Culture andTourism Ministry said that around 3.6 millionoverseas trips were made during the holiday,while the Chinese mainland received about3.23 million visits from overseas travelers.
A total of 13.52 million inbound and out-bound trips were made during the holiday,marking a nearly threefold increase from theholiday period last year, according to the Na-tional Immigration Administration.
Travel portal Trip.com Group said thatamong the top 10 0verseas destinations, Singa-pore, Thailand and Malaysia were the biggestwinners, with total bookings to the three desti-nations marking growth of over 30 percent atthe group' s platform, thanks to their visa- freepolicies for Chinese travelers.

春節(jié)假期期間,國內游客出游總花費6326.9億元,同比增長47.3%,按可比口徑較2019年同期增長7. 7%。
旅游門戶網站去哪兒網研究員肖鵬稱,今年的春節(jié)假期較長(往年通常為七天),這使得旅游出行成為更受歡迎的選擇。
一些旅行社表示,云南昆明市和海南三亞等氣候溫暖或擁有熱帶風光的南方目的地仍然是游客的首選。從三亞出發(fā)的經濟艙返程機票早早售罄,只剩下商務艙或頭等艙機票。
旅游門戶網站途牛表示,龍年伊始,具有濃郁文化氛圍或突出龍文化元素的旅游目的地和博物館受到了游客的青睞。
此外,一些北方的冰雪旅游景點也在春節(jié)期間大受歡迎。據哈爾濱市文化和旅游局的數據,哈爾濱冰雪大世界從2月10日到2月14日(春節(jié)假期前五天)共接待游客32.9萬人次,游客人數比去年同期激增115%。
除了繁榮的國內旅游,假日期間出入境旅游市場也表現出色。文化和旅游部稱,假日期間出境游約360萬人次,入境游約323萬人次。
根據國家移民管理局的數據,假期期間共有1352萬人次出入境,比去年假期增加了近三倍。
旅游門戶網站攜程表示,在排名前十的海外目的地中,新加坡、泰國和馬來西亞是最大的贏家,得益于對中國游客的免簽政策,這三個目的地在該平臺上的總預訂量增長超30%。
