The other day， some of my colleagues and I took part in a teachers gathering held by the local education authourities， which was aiming at enhancing the communication between teachers from different schools. At the gathering， we chatted happily. Suddenly， an idea occurred to us that we could ask the teachers from other schools to guess which subject we teach at school. Surprisingly， all of those who were asked to could dope out my subject except one who just became a teacher last year. When I asked them how they managed to figure it out， they smiled and answered with just one word： “intuition”.

I always believe that all the English teachers have something in common that distinguishs them from other teachers. Look at the English teachers around you， make comparison with other teachers， and you may have some findings.

Now， as an English teacher for about 10 years， I will share my findings with you：

不久前的某一天，我和我的一些同事參加了一個由當(dāng)?shù)亟逃块T舉辦的教師聚會，這個聚會的目的在于增強來自不同學(xué)校的老師間的交流。在聚會上，我們開心地聊天。突然，我們產(chǎn)生了一個想法：讓來自其他學(xué)校的老師猜猜我們在學(xué)校教什么學(xué)科。令人驚奇的是，除了一個去年剛當(dāng)老師的以外，所有被要求猜測的老師都猜出了我的任教科目。當(dāng)我問他們是如何猜出的時候，他們笑了，用一個詞來回答我 ——“直覺”。

我一直相信，幾乎所有的英語老師都有著將他們同其它科目的老師區(qū)分開來的共同點。看看你周圍的英語老師，將他們同其它科目的老師進行比較，你會有所發(fā)現(xiàn)。

現(xiàn)在，作為一個約十年教齡的英語老師，我將同你分享我的發(fā)現(xiàn)：

1. The adjectives such as “fashionable， pretty， handsome， lively， cool” etc. are an important part of the comments on English teachersappearances.

形容詞，如“時尚、漂亮、帥氣、活力、酷……”，是對英語老師外表評判時的重要用語。

2. Generally speaking， English teachers speak Putonghua better than other teachers， even better than lots of Chinese teachers.

一般說來，英語老師比別的老師普通話講得好，甚至好過很多中文老師。

3. Its not difficult to find versatile English teachers who are brilliant and active. They show up more often on stage.

要找到多才多藝的英語老師并不是件難事，他們才華橫溢，活力十足。因此，他們更多地出現(xiàn)在舞臺之上。

4. Most English teachers are easy-going， kind and open when getting along with others， and therefore they are often more popular with students.

與人相處時，大部分英語老師隨和、友好、直率，所以在學(xué)生中更受歡迎。

5. English teachers are often more romantic in their life and full of passion in their teaching. 生活中，英語老師更浪漫；工作中，他們充滿激情。

6. English teachers often behave more naturally and gracefully in open occasions.

在公開場合，英語老師往往表現(xiàn)得更自然大方、更優(yōu)雅得體。

7. English teachers can often step out of the sophisticated world and conventional life style and enjoy an independent life of their own， caring little about fame and profit， which may explain why there are few leaders among them.

英語老師通常能超脫世俗，淡泊名利，享受獨立自由的生活，這也許可以解釋為什么他們很少擔(dān)任領(lǐng)導(dǎo)角色。

8. Most English teachers are essential optimists， and appear younger than other teachers of the same age.

大部分英語老師是樂天派，他們看起來比同齡的其它科目的教師顯得更年輕。

9. English teachers often lead the fashion of life and closely keep up with the time. 英語老師通常引領(lǐng)時尚，緊跟時代潮流。

10. English teachers are more ready to accept new ideas and notions of foreign culture with their knowledge of the subject they teach.

在他們所教科目知識的幫助下，英語老師更樂于接受外國文化中的新觀念。
