詩與歌，從來都是關(guān)系緊密，不可分割?！对姟ご笮颉吩唬骸霸娬?，志之所之也。在心為志，發(fā)言為詩，情動于中而形于言。言之不足，故嗟嘆之。嗟嘆之不足，故詠歌之。詠歌之不足，不知手之舞之足之蹈之也。”從《詩經(jīng)》到唐詩宋詞元曲，或詩為曲而作，或曲中有詩歌。

今天的流行歌曲，也常常會直接采用或間接借鑒詩歌來作為歌詞，如鄧麗君的《虞美人》、毛寧的《濤聲依舊》等即是如此。而當(dāng)代英文歌曲也不乏歌詞優(yōu)美、極具詩歌韻味的例子。愛爾蘭著名樂隊(duì)Westlife 的《Seasons in the Sun》就是這樣一首歌。這首歌最初版本是法國歌手Jaques Brel發(fā)表于1961年的《Le moribond》（將死之人）。這首歌曲旋律輕快，但基調(diào)悲傷，歌詞內(nèi)容讓人傷感。其歌詞經(jīng)歷了多次再創(chuàng)造的不斷的改編，行成了現(xiàn)今的英文版。

筆者很喜歡Westlife的作品，同時(shí)也熱愛中國詩歌。一次聽罷《Seasons in the Sun》，深受觸動，于是將其歌詞試譯為五言古體詩。譯作五言詩顧及了歌詞“詩”的屬性，但很大程度上丟掉了其“歌”的屬性。作為一次嘗試性的翻譯，希望可以借此拓寬我們翻譯材料的來源，也希望能引起更多譯者對歌詞翻譯的興趣。
