On January 20, 2021, the new-generation isodewaxing catalyst RIW-30 developed by the SINOPEC Research Institute of Petroleum Processing (RIPP) has passed the technical review organized by the SINOPEC Science and Technology Division. The experts attending the technical review meeting have unanimously recognized that this catalytic materials for isodewaxing of petroleum products has achieved a great leap type progress to attain an outstanding catalytic performance, which has reached the internationally advanced level.
The pilot scale assessment results have revealed that upon using the catalyst RIW-30 for treating the hydrocracked residue as the feedstock provided by the SINOPEC Maoming Petrochemical Company to yield the same base oil product with a pour point of -18°C, the catalyst RIW-30 can yield a 6-cSt base oil product with a reduced VI loss equating to 4 units and an increased base oil yield of around 5 percentage points as compared to those achieved by the currently used catalyst. Furthermore, in comparison with an advanced reference catalyst to yield base oil product with similar viscosity index, the catalyst RIW-30 can increase the base oil product yield by 3.8 percentage points.Processing the F-T synthesis wax distillate over the catalyst RIW-30 can give high yield of main product coupled with low naphtha yield and more optimized product distribution to achieve better economic benefits. The catalyst RIW-30 can also be used to process different feedstocks such as the hydrotreated gasoil and the gatch oil, and it can still retain its catalytic activity after 2000-hr stability tests.
