sight

（1）sth that is seen， esp. sth unusual， beautiful，etc. 景象；奇觀

He enjoyed seeing the sights of the West lake.他喜歡觀賞西湖美景。

（2）the power of seeing 視力

He lost his sight in an accident. 他在一次事故中喪失視力了。

（3）the seeing of sth 觀看；瞥見

I caught sight of my old friend in town today. 我今天在城里看見我的老朋友了。

辨析 sight： 值得看的名勝風景，常用復數(shù)。

scenery： 指總的自然景觀。

scene： 指所看到的遠近各處景象，也包括人活動的場景或布景。

view：表示從某個角度能看到的遠景。

What a happy scene of children playing in the park！ 孩子們在公園里玩耍的景象是多么令人愉快呀！

Youll get a good view of the town from the top the hill. 從山頂上看城鎮(zhèn)視野非常好。

suit

（1）n. a set of outer garments 外套；西裝；套裝

He is wearing a sports suit. 他穿著運動服。

（2）to look attractive on sb 適合（某人）

Its almost impossible to find a time that suits everybody. 想要找一個對所有人都合適的時間幾乎是不可能的。

辨析 fit： 多指衣服尺寸大小合身。

suit： 指衣服顏色款式適合某人，或者指某事安排適合某人。

match： 意為“使相稱，相配，匹配”，指事物在大小、色調(diào)、性質(zhì)等方面的搭配。

It doesnt suit you to have your hair cut short. 你不適合剪短發(fā)。

Her nails were painted bright red to match her dress. 她把指甲涂成了大紅色，為的是與裙子相配。

I tried the dress on but it didnt fit. It was too small. 我試了那條裙子，但是并不合身，太小了。

panic

（1）v. to cause to fearful 使……恐慌

Shoppers are panicked into buying things they dont need. 消費者因恐慌搶購了一些他們并不需要的東西。

（2）n. a state of sudden uncontrollable quickly-spreading terror or anxiety. 恐慌；驚慌

she got into a real panic when she thought shed lost the tickets. 想到自己把入場券弄丟了，她十分恐慌。

guarantee

The watch comes with a years guarantee. 這塊表保修一年。

appoint

（1）to choose sb for a job or position任命；委派

They appointed Mr. White（to be） manager of the company.

= They appointed Mr. White as manager of the company.

= They appointed Mr. White to act manager of the company. 他們?nèi)蚊鼞烟叵壬鸀楣窘?jīng)理。

We must appoint someone to finish the tough task. 們得指定一個人去完成這項艱難的任務。

appoint sb as/to be... 任命某人為……

appoint sb to do sth 委派某人做某事

（2） to arrange or decide on a time or a place for doing sth 安排

eg： please appoint a time for the meeting. 請安排開會時間。
