【摘要】唐代詩人李白的《靜夜思》是一首經(jīng)典的古詩。查閱資料，《靜夜思》的英文譯本很多，作者選取了其中的7個譯本進行研究。根據(jù)嚴復先生的“信、達、雅”原則進行分析，許淵沖先生的譯本堪稱神來之筆。

一、李白詩作《靜夜思》概述

《靜夜思》是唐代著名詩人李白于公元726年在當時非常繁華的揚州一個旅館住宿時所做。該詩為一首五言絕句，韻律工整并且言簡意賅。原詩全文為：床前明月光/疑是地上霜/舉頭望明月/低頭思故鄉(xiāng)。

這首詩的大體意思是一縷皎潔的月光透過窗戶投射到房間的床頭前面，好像是地上下了一層薄薄的清霜。我抬起頭來，仰望天空中明亮的月亮，在低頭之時，開始思念我的故鄉(xiāng)。作者通過簡短的20字勾勒出了自己思念家鄉(xiāng)的一幅凄婉的鄉(xiāng)愁圖。

二、李白詩作《靜夜思》英文譯本的優(yōu)劣分析

1.《靜夜思》英文譯本的不同版本

譯本1： 翁顯良 譯：

Nostalgia

A splash of white on my bedroom floor/ Hoar frost/ I raise my eyes to the moon， the same moon/ As scenes long past come to mind， my eyes fall again/ on the splash of white， and my heart aches for home

Night Thoughts

In front of my bed the moon light is very bright/ I wonder if that can be frost on the floor/ I lift up my head and look at the full moon， the dazzling moon/ I drop my head， and think of the home of old days.譯本3：Witter Bynner 譯：

So bright agleam on the foot of my bed/ Could there have been a frost already/ Lifting my head to look， I found that it was moonlight/ Sinking back again， I thought suddenly of home.

The Moon Shines

Everywhere/ Seeing the moon beams by my couch so bright/ I thought hoar frost had fallen from the night/ On the clear moon I gaze with lifted eyes/ Then hid them full of homes sweet memories.

Thoughts on a Silent Night

A gleam of light streams down over my bed/ I wonder if its the frost on the ground/ Raising my eyes， I gaze at the bright moon/ Lowering my head， I miss my home town.

2.《靜夜思》英文譯本的比較分析

在翻譯界，對于翻譯的標準問題，不同的大師有不同的學說。中國的大規(guī)模翻譯始于近代，談到翻譯的標準，被譽為翻譯界的前輩的嚴復認為翻譯應該遵守“信、達、雅”原則。所謂的“信”就是翻譯的譯文和原文之間具有信度，翻譯的譯文應該最大限度的和原文等值。所謂的“達”是指翻譯的譯文能夠為譯文讀者所理解達到讀者的內(nèi)心。所謂的“雅”是指翻譯的譯文不僅僅能夠讓讀者理解而且要能夠讓讀者根據(jù)其自身的語言文化知識感受到美感。在翻譯實踐中，很多譯者都在努力的遵循嚴復先生的翻譯標準，但是能夠同時兼顧“信、達、雅”三項標準的作品少之又少，可以稱之為佳品。

根據(jù)嚴復先生的翻譯標準，上述7個版本的翻譯各有千秋。從題目上看，翁顯良版直接把《靜夜思》翻譯成了鄉(xiāng)愁，雖然主要精神都包含在這個翻譯中，但是夜晚安寧的氣氛不見了，在信度方面有所欠缺；譯本2和6采用了同樣的名稱，把夜和思翻譯出來了，但是顯得非常的呆板，在“雅”的方面沒有做到。譯本3、5、7在題目上不僅和原文忠實而且通順，同時兼顧了“雅”，做得較好。譯本4對于題目的翻譯不夠確切，堪稱為敗筆。在整首詩的內(nèi)容的翻譯上，所有的譯者都堪稱大師。但是，在語言風格上，只有譯本7考慮了原文的韻律和節(jié)奏，在所有的英文譯本中，筆者認為譯本7真正忠實了嚴復先生的“信、達、雅”原則，是佳品中的佳品。
