Many senior high students are nowadays confused of how to learn English properly and effectively and here Id like to share my experience with you.

POINT ONE：Grammar should always be the top priority

Just like games wont run without rules， grammar is just the rule in English.

English is not our mother tongue after all. We lack natural ambience when we are learning English. Exposed to Chinese since childhood， Chinese grammar has deeply rooted in our mind. However， English and Chinese are completely different language systems， which is why we can always see “Chinglish” in our daily life. Linguist Wilkins has a famous saying：“Without grammar， words can only convey very little information”. Because vocabulary is only an isolated part. Vocabulary without grammar is just like a scattered leaf separated from its trunk.

Many students blindly take it for granted that only augmenting their vocabulary can also achieve triumph. But actually we need to be fully aware of the significance of grammar because to learn English well， vocabulary alone wont suffice. For example， on the premise that you and your fellow student have the same vocabulary and state of mind， if you have a bad command of grammar， you are doomed to be inferior. By mastering grammar well， we can dissect long and complicated sentences and even use more advanced sentences in composition， which will imperceptibly improve our English level.

POINT TWO：Developing enthusiasm in learning English is a must

As is known to all， interest is the best teacher. Interest can stimulate students desire for knowledge， and promote us to explore and learn， to obtain relevant knowledge and skills. Therefore， we should pay attention to training and stimulating interest in learning English.

For English learners， English can be regarded as a goal. The greater the value of a goal， the greater the motivation it gives to an individual. Once you have built your enthusiasm， you will find learning no longer a burden and you are willing to receive more fresh knowledge at any time. Meanwhile， your learning productivity is bound to soar to a new level and you can find your initiative to expose yourself to the capacious English paradise.

POINT THREE：Expose yourself to English as much as possible

In this diverse and multicultural world， we can find it extremely easy to come across English. With unaccountable means to intensify our“relationship” with English， I strongly recommend listening to English songs and watching English videos not only for its capability of developing language intuition and doing great good to our pronunciation but also for its convenience. And out of question， English TV series such as《Vampire Diaries》、《Prison Break》、《The Big Bang Theory》 are in vogue and are gaining popularity among us ordinary people. More examples can be found in the world of English singers. Individuals like Taylor Swift、Beyonce、Eminem with groups such as Linkin park、Owl City、Simple Plan and so forth are famous throughout the world so there is no chance that you cant find your kind of appetite.endprint

POINT FOUR：Attitude determines altitude

It is said that life is like a cup of tea， it is bitter when you drink it in a sad mood， but when you are delight， it is sweet. The same life， when treated differently， the results differ greatly. Therefore， we cant afford to lack a positive attitude in our life.

Its a positive attitude that determines the height of success.

Similarly， the way we treat English decides our English level. As an English subject representative myself， I always witness my classmates fading interest in English. In morning-self-study， they lack vitality and cant concentrate on reading. When I inquire them about the cause， they alleged that they just didnt sleep well last night but from my perspective， they didnt form a correct attitude towards English study. Once you have built a positive attitude towards it， you figure it out that there exists something in your inner side that back you up so that you feel fueled and will never be tired when you shouldnt.

Both English and Chinese require multitude of accumulation. Due to the heavy study in our daily life， we find it hard to squeeze out time to do accumulation， which provides a perfect alibi for someone. However， we can improve our productivity to settle this difficulty. When obstacles emerge， solutions will eventually come out. Just remember；when there is a will， there is a way.

There are also many other ways to learn English， we can find a kindred person；we can read as many English magazines as possible. But whatever we do， we ought to bear in mind that we learn English neither for grades nor for our final test， but for our own sublimation， for broadening our horizons. Just as our teachers say， we dont learn for them， but we dont learn for the Exam-oriented education as well. All the knowledge we have learnt would ultimately transform into strength that support us to walk in the society. Hope my words can be contemplated and be of use to you.
