Abstract:Under the background of the “new normal” of economy, the problem and phenomenon of single industry structure in the regions have raised great concern by the government and the media in recent years.However,there is lack of empirical evidence on how to scientifically and reasonably identify uni-structural cities and whether this single industry structure influences the economic growth in a region.Based on the exploratory research on the characteristics of cities in the northeast China,this paper attempts to construct uni-structural cities index system from the perspectives of economic creativity, financial dependence and social support,then the cities in Northeast China are divides into uni-structural cities,non-uni-structural cities and the cities with the degree of single industry structure between the former two kinds.At the same time,the empirical results also find that the economic growth effect of cities with single industry structure are superior to that of non-uni-structural cities.The economic growth effects of cities with different types of uni-structural cities are different.
