This is a special issue in celebration of the 110th Anniversary of the origination of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts.No. 4 Tianwei Road of Heibei District has been a location of educational institutions for over a hundred years. Tianjing Academy of Fine Arts, as a well-known academy of fi ne arts in China, is the result of efforts of several generations of predecessors. At this special moment, we cherish history and look to the future, and wish Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts a brighter future.
Famous Teachers in Students’ Eyes, an ad hoc column in this issue, is the result of classroom teaching of undergraduate students of School of Arts and Humanities, TAFA. Guided in their course, the students had a series of vivid academic interviews with veteran artists of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts. “Famous teachers in the eyes of young people” not only are the backbone of the academy, but also embody between the lines certain strength in carrying forward our cause and forging ahead to the future.
Some recent research results of teachers and students of TAFA are also published in this issue, among which are not only a textual research on the changes of school names in the century-long history of the location of TAFA, but also Ms. Zheng Dai’s “new book release” with an account of her own experience in creation and teaching. Following its motto of “Striving for Integrity and Artistry, Enhancing Learning and Practice”, Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts is striding on an increasingly broader road of art and humanities.
