In the past we have been asked often enough about innovation in architecture. There have been many technical innovations but, this generation of architects and future generations will focus the design on a new innovation:
The circular economy.
Circular economy will revolutionize the way we think building design and the way we will build buildings. The construction industry uses up a great part of the world's natural resources. Often, we hear in the news, that at midterm of the year we have already used up all of the earth's renewable natural resources. For the rest of the year, we live of the remaining substance.
For this reason, architectural design calls for environmental stewardship. All materials will be analyzed in their substance to be healthy building products and the results will be noted down in a material passport.
Our clients today already see this concept as an added value for their investments.
This concept of the circular economy requires us architects to design more fundamentally in terms of the use of natural materials with the integration of natural energy sources. Architectural design will have to focus more and more on the earth's resources, creating a better world for our clients, our employees and our communities.□

I'm an architect, engineer and crafter. The 21st century architecture needs three important things: one is about teaching; the second is about how we work;the third one is to become an architect again. The first teaching is to stimulate the creativity for students. They need to have a comprehensive teaching content. They need to learn architecture, social science, engineering, chemistry and law. This comprehensive environment is essential to be aware of the big questions as take now for the world and earth. Students need to dream about the space. They need to keep imagining what architecture could become. It means that our teachers need to be experienced architects with practices. Another point for me is multi-disciplinering practices. In my opinion, we need to get know all the knowledge and all the disciplines that improve architecture. Like what I just said, chemistry, sociology, landscape, architecture, structure... It's a condition that can be able to created in architecture of the 21st century. That will answer the big problems: low carbon, pollution, energy needs... Which are the big and urgent issues. So the 21st century architecture should have concerns for material re-use;excessive energy needs, low carbon. The third point is that we, architects, need to become architects again. Instead of only designers and artists, we are crafters,we are builders, and we are designers. We are multi-disciplinary practitioners. It's important to go back to the rules, to create new techniques, new materials that can generate new architecture. We don't need to master all the techniques, but we need to gather them together and to create a contemporary low energy needs local architecture for this new 21st century, not on the base of 20th century. That is essential. □
