Fighting Bird Flu Again
Ten years after the horrible outbreak of SARS in 2003, Chinese are facing another fatal attack from bird flu H7N9. As to April 9, the number of people infected with the H7N9 has risen to 28 and nine of them have died. Learned from the lessons of SARS, Chinese people seem to already know how to face this epidemic by using modern technology and complete prevention measures of infectious diseases.

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. economist Jim O'Neill will retire from the investment bank several months later. In 2001 Mr O'Neill coined the acronym Brics to represent the potential of Brazil, Russia, India and China while he acted as the head of economic research for the bank. In the last year he visited China, Russia and Brazil, but after the retirement, he will be even busier than before and spend more time to do research work in Brics countries this year.

Brics Development Bank to Be Formed
In the South African port city of Durban, where China President Xi Jinping attended the fifth BRICS summit, which brought together his fellow heads of state from Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa. Brics nations have agreed to establish a new development bank which will be conducive to inter-Brics cooperation and the steady growth of the world economy. The author suggests that China could inject RMB into the bank instead of US dollars.
